Ben Turner is The Fastest Man

College coaches are beginning to take notice of Ben Turner who play’s WR, DB, KR, PR, and holder at Spring Valley High School (Wv.). Turner wowed spectators at the 2021 Appalachia Prep Combine with his speed. “When I first got there, I saw everybody, and I didn’t expect to do what I did. All combines I went to before, I ran a 4.5, so I knew I would be in that range. I knew my vertical would be good because I can dunk a ball. [However,] once I got going, I knew I had a good chance at it. It was a good experience” said Turner. He recorded the best 40 time of the APC (4.59 Zybek) and 8th best vertical (36”).  “If you put me in the open field, I’ll make things happen. Even since I was little. Speed has always been my strong point”.

His high school team is in unfamiliar territory as of late with a 4 and 2 start. “We’ve played pretty good. I believe the best game we’ve had was vs. South Charleston. We beat them pretty good. They won the COVID Championship last year and had “The AX”. This year we got it done. Our defense is doing well. Our offense is struggling a little bit but getting it together”, said Turner.

Recruitment is starting to pick up for Turner as a wide receiver. VMI, Morehead State, Presbyterian, Drake, Davidson, Wolford, Limestone, and UVA-Wise are all actively recruiting the Timberwolf standout. He recently took an official visit to Washington Lee where he also has an offer. In addition, Turner has a visit scheduled with Presbyterian on October 30th.  With a 4.2 GPA and 1100 SAT score, expect Ivy League programs to begin to heat up the recruitment as Turner prepares to retake his SATs next month.

Hopes of a state title are on the horizon, but Ben is content with having a normal senior year so far, “I just hope to play without any COVID cancellations. It’s great to have a normal senior year”. After six games, Tuner has accumulated two interceptions, over 30 tackles, 600 all-purpose yards, and 2 offensive TDs.
